Mechanism Of Action: Dihydroartemisin is the active metabolite of all artemisin compounds. It is a synthetic derivative of artemisin, and it’s widely used as an intermediate in the preparation of other artemisin derived drugs. The mechanism of action involves cleavage of endoperoxide bridges by iron, producing free radicals which damage biological macromolecules causing oxidative stress in the cells of the parasite. Piperaquine is an antiparasitic drug used to treat malaria. It kills parasites by disrupting the detoxification of host heme. It functions by accumulating in the parasite digestive vacoule.

DOSE:
By weight: 11-<17kg: 1 tablet daily for 3 days; 17-<25kg: 1½ tablet daily for 3 days; 26kg-<35kg: 2 tablets daily for 3 days; 36-<60kg: 3 tablets daily for 3 days; 60-<80kg: 4 tablets daily for 3 days; >80kg: 5 tablets once daily for 3 days.
By age: 3-6yrs: ½ tablet until dose, ½ tablet 8hrs later, ½ tab 24hrs later, ½ tab 48hrs later; 7-10yrs- 1 tab initial dose, 1 tab 8hrs later, 1 tab 24hrs later, 1 tab 48hrs later; 11-15yrs: 1 ½ tab initial dose, 1 ½ tab 8hrs later, 1 ½ tab 24hrs later, 1 ½ tab 48hrs later; >16yrs: 2 tab initial dose, 2 tab 8hrs later, 2 tab 24hrs later, 2 tab 48hrs later.
