Aquacef Tablet

Active ingredient: Cefuroxime Axetil 500mg

Mechanism of action: It is a 2nd generation cephalosporin. It binds to

penicillin binding proteins and inhibits final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis, resulting in cell wall death, resists degradation by beta-lactamase. It is active against a wide range of gram +ve and gram -ve organisms.

Indications: Acute and chronic bronchitis, URTI (ENT’S), Pyelonephritis, Impetigo, Osteomyelitis, Pelvic inflammatory disease, Gonorrhea, Septicemia, Meningitis, Surgical prophylaxis.

Dose: Adult: 250 – 500mg PO 12hrly

Child: 15mg/kg PO twice daily
