MELOVAD TABLETS

Active Ingredient: Meloxicam BP 15mg

Mechanism Of Action: Meloxicam is an oxicam  derivative, a member of the enolic group of NSAIDS. It inhibits synthesis of prostaglandins in body tissues by inhibiting at least 2 cyclo-oxygenase (COX) isoenzymes, COX-1 and COX-2. COX-2 may be inhibited to a greater extent than COX-1 is. This results in decreased production of prostaglandins also known as inflammation mediators. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Indications: Short term symptomatic treatment of exacerbations of osteoarthritis. Long term symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis.

Dose:

Adult: 7.5mg/day. Maximum dose of 15mg/day. In severe renal impairment, do not exceed 7.5mg/day

Child: Not recommended for < 16yrs
